Jeremy Browne - A Tribute
All of us at BucksVision were deeply shocked and saddened to learn of the death of our Trustee Jeremy Browne last month.
Jeremy joined the Board of Trustees in 2018 prior to retiring as a solicitor specialising in family law. Jeremy was warm, friendly and approachable. He was an inspiration, someone who refused to let being blind get in the way of his aspirations and ideals.
Jeremy was an active member of the Board and contributed so much to BucksVision. In the last twelve months, Jeremy had taken on the mantle of Chair of our Development Committee, a subcommittee focussing on income generation at a difficult time for many charities. Jeremy could be relied upon to identify key issues, ask important questions, and provide a welcome perspective informed by common-sense and lived experience.
During the pandemic, Jeremy volunteered to become a telephone befriender for BucksVision. Will, who was befriended by Jeremy, was extremely saddened to hear of Jeremy’s passing and said, “I was fortunate enough to share Jeremy's time for a number of months and he became a dear, dear friend to me. In my experience he was a compassionate, considerate, thoughtful, caring tender person who valued everyone no matter their background.”
In addition to BucksVision, Jeremy was involved with many other organisations including the National User Group for Shaping Our Lives, an organisation which promotes inclusivity; Chair of the Society of Visually impaired Lawyers; and a keen supporter of Street Kids Direct, who work with disadvantaged children in Guatemala and Honduras.
All of us at BucksVision will miss him greatly and send our deepest condolences to his wife and family.
